It's Time For Ham-o-ween! Who's Got a Scary Piggin' Costume?

It's Time For Ham-o-ween! Who's Got a Scary Piggin' Costume?

There’s a lot of stuff going on this October, including our one-year anniversary a couple weeks ago. I turn around, and BAM! Halloween!

This is one of my favorite holidays, and for good reason. It’s the perfect day of the year to accessorize with porkin’ great ideas and costumes – and I would know!

Last year, I went to Halloween as a Ninja Pig. Yeah, that’s right, a ninja pig! Now you see me… now you don’t! You know I had to deck out my costume with curly pigtails, and of course a bright pink pig nose. Because every good pig ninja dresses in all black to hide while its stalking people, only to rock the bright pink pig nose, too! 😉

The best part, though? One of my awesome friends drew these great tattoos on my arms, one of a shuriken and the other of a pig! They looked so amazing that people thought they were real! I was asked all night about my tattoos, and it almost made me consider getting the real thing! Ok, maybe not…

So this year for Ham-o-ween, I have a little challenge for you! Dress up like a pig, or with some piggy accessories. Send me the pictures of your Halloween party with you dressed up as a pig, and I’ll share the most creative ones on the blog.

I LOVE to see people being creative, especially for one of my favorite holidays! I can’t wait to see what you come up with, and you know I’m going to be decked out myself in piggy attire.

Speaking of holidays, what would a good Halloween post be without some cool facts about the holiday itself? Here are a few things I bet you didn’t know:

    • * First, remember the movie Halloween? Well, it was under such a tight budget during filming that they had to use the cheapest mask they could find for their character Michael Myers. They found a dirt-cheap William Shatner Star Trek mask and well, the rest is history!

    • * A man by the name of Norm Craven grew the largest pumpkin ever on record when he broke the world record in 1993 with a 836 lb. pumpkin.

    • * The first known mention of trick-or-treating in print occurred – get this – in Alberta, Canada in 1927! The birthplace of trick-or-treating!

    • * According to some traditions, if a person wears her clothes inside out and walks backwards on Halloween, she will see a witch at midnight! Who is brave enough to try it?

  • * In many countries like France and Australia, Halloween is seen as an unwanted and commercial American influence. What a buzz kill, you guys!

That’s it for me as I go prepare for Halloween! But remember your challenge, guys – incorporate something piggy into your Halloween costume this year, and send us your pictures! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Great costume!!! I love it! That gives me some more inspiration on what I can be for future Halloweens. This year I had no idea.

Thanks. It didn’t take long and it was inexpensive to put together the whole Halloween costume.

Ok Ms. Ninja Pig!! Wish I could be what I originally planned this year, to be Where’s Waldo Pig. Instead, I was just Where Waldo lol!!

I would love to see your Halloween costume even though it’s not pig related. I enjoyed looking for Waldo growing up.

You have such an amazing costume!! There were so many Waldos I’ve seen this year, but not one single Ninja Pig! 🙂
