Pig Art to Commemorate a Pig Town

The town of Smithfield, Virginia is celebrating the beauty of pigs by having eight local artists paint fiberglass porcine statues, which will be displayed in various locations in Smithfield later this year. The themes painted on the statues will highlight the connection between pigs and their town’s history. Smithfield, Virginia is known as the “Ham Capital of the World” as it is home to Smithfield Foods, a Fortune 500 company that is the largest producer of pork products in the world. I think that this would be a great project to do in Atlanta someday. Now if I could only get some artist support…
