What’s Up With Cochon 555 This Year?


If you’ve been living under a rock, or you’re not as big a fan of pigs as I am (ha!), you may not know about Cochon 555, a kind of new foodie rock & roll paradise that is dedicated to being a traveling circus of sorts. It prides itself on sustainability, and being a “locavore” event for people who love eating, spending, and shopping locally, as well as a cooking contest and a wine tasting event for those who just love food and drink.


Oh, yeah. And the pigs.



Hog farmers take to the stage and they run all sorts of contests in terms of butchering, from taking the pig right then and there to creating something truly delicious for guests who look on – sometimes in horror, sometimes in amusement, but always in amazement.




Cochon 555 is an amazing festival that, wherever it goes and whatever town it winds up in, ends up being a 3-4 hour long dedication to local farming, sustainable food growing and animal-killing processes, and just downright tasty food that you get on the spot after being prepared right in front of you.


For people who are looking for a dedicated local festival to hold it down for the piggy-inclined among us, or for those who are just looking for something interesting to do on a weekend, well, it’s all sure to be at Cochon 555.



And good news for those of you in Atlanta, like me! Cochon 555 will be back here on February 17th. The founder of this whole operation, Brady Lowe, is an Atlanta native and started this thing in the ATL, so it’s always a big deal when he can come home and rev up the home crowd with stuff.



You know that I’ll be around for this one! This event has only been around for five years, if you can believe it, but it’s already gotten huge, and it’s wildly popular for pork enthusiasts, wine enthusiasts, and, well, those who just want to have some fun and enjoy their lives while eating tasty, delicious, and locally made food.

And if they are ever in your town – seriously, you have got to get out there and try it and experience the day. It’s something you will simply never forget, and you’ll have an unbelievable amount of tasty food to enjoy even before considering all the other interesting stuff you can do there.

    I don’t really like the picture of the pig being slaughtered or the man holding the pig head, but the treats they created look really delicious!
